Colour Therapy

Colour therapy uses the sensitivity to colour to help identify and correct any imbalances in the body’s internal energy pattern. Colours affect your emotions, moods and physiological processes. Each organ and chakra point has its own characteristic vibrational energy colour. Disorders and imbalances can be helped to heal by applying colour of the corresponding vibrational energy. Coloured cloth can be applied either to the whole body, chakra point, and organ or wherever the imbalance presents its self. Colour appears to have an effect even on blind people, they are thought to sense colour as result of energy vibrations created within the body itself. By changing the colour of your clothing, home or office décor, you can bring harmony back into your life.

Crystal Therapy

Crystal therapy works on the theory that the illness is to be found within the electromagnetic fields, also known as the aura, which forms an egg-shaped energy field around us. The energy within the aura should flow freely, if the energy is blocked possibly due to negative thoughts, pollution or stress. If these blockages are not cleared disease may be the result. Crystals have been used for thousands of years for their protecting and decorating and healing properties. The ancient Egyptians used crystals; they powdered Malachite and applied it to wounds to prevent infection. They were among the first to say that Amethyst had healing properties and often used it to treat hangovers. Crystals can be used in a variety of ways. Crystals can be held, or placed on or around the body by the practitioner and with absent healing with the persons consent. They can be worn as necklaces, earrings or rings, a can also be placed around the house or workplace.

Ear Candling

Ear candling is also known as ear coning and ear cleansing. This technique has been use for thousands of years by the ancient Egyptians, Mayans, Tibetans, Aztec and American Indians. This is a simple and effective method, using specially designed hollow bees wax candle impregnated with herbs. The candles are tapered to fit into the ear at one end, the other end when lighted draws oxygen for the flame and creates a spiral vacuum. This has the effect of drawing out wax and residue and helps in clearing the sinus cavity. This process can also regulate sinus pressure, sinusitis, migraines, tinnitus, wax build up, fungus and impaction from within the ear canal, helps some forms of hearing loss and may help restore equilibrium.

Bach Flower Remedies

Bach Flower Remedies are flower essences which is a form of vibrational therapy. Each flower has a unique vibrational pattern. The series of 38 remedies made from wild flowers and plants is named after its originator Dr. Edward Bach who was an English physician. The remedies form a holistic treatment. The principle is that every disorder, whether it is physical or psychological, occurs because of an inner imbalance within the person, and that nature has already provided remedy in the form of healing plants, spring water, fresh air and sunlight. Anyone can benefit from treatment with flower remedies. They are safe for babies, children and animals. Theses remedies can be used alone or in conjunction with other forms of treatment. A full and in-depth consultation with a practitioner is required to gain the most benefit from flower remedies.

Magnet Therapy

Magnet therapy is based on the principle that illness is a result of an imbalance between various electromagnetic forces present inside the body. Magnet therapy helps to eliminate this imbalance and restore the natural balance to the body. Cleopatra was said to have worn a small natural magnet to preserve her youth and beauty. Throughout history philosophers’ Aristotle, Plato and Homer have mentioned magnet properties in their works. Magnets can be worn as jewellery, body wraps that contain magnets to treat the affected area, pillow and mattress pads, magnetic coasters to magnetise water. Magnet Therapy is an external mode of treatment which follows the laws of nature and can be used on children and animals. It is considered a holistic treatment because it accelerates blood circulation which activates the whole body’s working system to strengthen and tone, enhancing the immunity of the body. There are many magnets on the market today. Consult with a Magnet therapy practitioner for advice on how and were to use magnets effectively.

Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a way of balancing health by testing muscles and its name comes from the Greek “Kinesis” meaning motion. Our bodies contain invisible energies flowing throughout our organs and tissues. Normally these circuits are balanced and free flowing and we are in perfect health, however they can become blocked in times of stress or illness and we become weak if we are using more energy than they can generate. These weaknesses can be clearly identified with simple muscle testing. Kinesiology can be used as a preventative measure. It can help anyone, but it is better known for its help in treating people who have allergies or are sensitive to certain foods. The body can recognise and instantly react to chemicals by showing a weakened muscle response. Kinesiology works as a holistic treatment working on the emotional and physical to clear and rebalance. Each practitioner has a slightly different technique and may use kinesiology in conjunction with other treatment or therapies.

Bio-chemic Medicine

Originated by Dr.W H. Schuessler the biochemic system of medicine is a rational and natural method of healing, suitable for the treatment of simple everyday ailments. Biochemic tissue salts are safe for all the family and animals, even plants can benefit. The use of these cell-salts is by no means new in medicine as they have been known and used for centuries. But the recognition of their true worth as medicines and their functions in the tissues and organs of the body is of recent origin. Although the biochemic salts are administered in tiny amounts likened to homeopathic remedies, their method of preparation and principles of administration are different. However the 12 biochemic tissue salts are known to invoke the same remedial effects as their homeopathic counterparts. Symptoms of illness are guidelines as to which tissue salt is required to bring the body back to normal function. Biochemics work well with other treatments and therapy.

Reiki

Reiki is an ancient form of energy healing which originated in Japan. Reiki means
“ Universal Life Force” and it is a non invasive hands on or off the body treatment the patient is clothed. All living matter is made up of energy, which we regularly deplete and replenish. However sometimes we find it difficult to find the levels of energy we need to get through the day. Emotional problems, illness, stress, colds, long hours of work and the general pace of life today have a negative effect on our body’s ability to function at full capacity. This leaves us drained physically, mentally and emotionally.
Reiki involves the use of the energy through the practitioner to bring the patients body into a state of natural balance. Most people report a feeling of warmth, comfort and security during a treatment and experience a deep sense of relaxation and well-being. These feeling can continue for several days after a treatment. These are some of the problems that have been relieved by Reiki healing. |

Reflexology

Reflexology has its origins in China and ancient Egypt. It is a safe non invasive treatment predominantly of the feet but can be practiced on the hands and ears. Reflexology is recognised world wide for its effectiveness; it brings deep relaxation and balance to the whole body. The Chinese believe that the feet, hands and ears mirror the body and that the reflex points correspond to each organ and structure, by way of meridians or energy channels. These energy channels can become blocked due to illness, stress, incorrect posture. The application of pressure to certain areas of the foot etc. can relieve tension and pain in corresponding areas of the body. The aim of the treatment is to reduce congestion, inflammation and tension through stimulating the body’s natural pain killing endorphins. This can improve blood circulation aiding the removal of toxins, reduce stress and rebalance the body as a whole.

Curative Hypnotherapy

Curative hypnotherapy differs from other hypnosis techniques in that it treats the cause of the problem. Once the cause is corrected the symptoms will disappear automatically. The treatment can only be carried out with the full consent of the person. Hypnosis will not make you do or say anything you do not want to do. The treatment is relaxing and there are no side effects, or dangers. You are not asleep or unconscious during treatment and you will be fully aware and in control. Each person has problems that are unique to them, so treatment time scales differ, as it can take time to locate and correct the cause of the problem. Full in depth consultation and an assessment is required before treatment.

Therapeutic Massage

Massage the healing power of touching another person. Hippocrates, considered massage of prime importance to any health and well-being regime. Galen and the Romans also prized the healing benefits of massage. The therapeutic strokes and manipulations of massage help to rebalance the body’s systems speed the blood flow from the extremities and clear toxins from the tissues. Massage helps to stretch the muscles and tendons and to shorten the recovery time of muscle injury or strain. Massage also stimulates and soothes the skin and the nervous system. It reduces emotional and physical stress and has many clinical uses in sports, medical and remedial therapies. Therapeutic massage is also known as Swedish massage and differs from the lighter massage of aromatherapy in that the pressure and depth of the strokes are firmer and more defined. Consultation with a therapist is required to assess the type of massage most suitable for you.

Neurostructural Integration Technique ( N.S.T.)

Michael J. Nixon-Livy is an internationally renowned lecturer, teacher, author and health practitioner who was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1954.
He started his career in complementary medicine in 1974, undertaking comprehensive studies and practice in nutritional science, psychology, human relations and various bodywork therapies.
Prior to 1974 he qualified and worked as an electrical technician and then subsequently a professional artist, enabling him to finance his simultaneous career in natural medicine, which at that stage attracted comparatively little income.
He also spent some 5 years as a professional athlete. It was during this time that he had the opportunity to appreciate the importance and necessity of good bodywork techniques that were quick and effective.
Not long after finishing his career as an athlete he took up further studies in bodywork, psychology and nutrition, including Bowen Therapy, kinesiological and Ericksonian psychological studies.
He received additional Diplomas in Applied Physiology, Solution Focused Therapy and the Bowen Technique.
Realising the profound importance of the relationship between bodywork, nutrition and psychology he ran a very busy and successful clinical practice in Melbourne, Australia, up until 1995, specialising in structural problems, psychological difficulties and profound learning difficulties in children and adults.
In 1991 he commenced the process of choreographing much of the advanced work of the late Australian bodywork genius, Tom Bowen, into a practical, dynamic and teachable system. By 1995 he had completed this undertaking and the Neurostructural Integration Technique was born.
Today he spends much of his time traveling and teaching the Neurostructural Integration Technique to classes of professional health practitioners in various countries around the world.
Michael is dedicated to a mission of making available to the world forms of natural therapy that have the capacity to quickly and effectively relieve pain and to bring balance back into the lives of the many individuals who seek relief, while at the same time providing better education into the attainment of good health and longevity.
"The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but instead will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and the causes and prevention of disease."
Thomas Edison
The Neurostructural Integration Technique (NST) is considered by many to be the world’s leading technique in structural and spinal therapy for lasting pain removal and rejuvenation!
NST is a remarkably effective professional bodywork technique, that when applied, initiates a process of natural auto-regulation to occur in the spinal column and consequently throughout the whole body.
The resultant effect of this is a rapid elimination or reduction of symptoms, followed by an increase in energy and an unmistakable sense of well being.
Typically the response to NST is most often profoundly effective, and more than seldom, miraculous.
NST is essentially a soft tissue osteopathic-style therapy, designed to remove pain, physiological dysfunction and even psychological imbalances, by restoring the structural integrity of the body.
Its application is suitable and safe for all ages, from new-born to the elderly.
As its main aim is to reintegrate the body-mind complex as a whole, it is often called contextual healing, consequently regarding illnesses as symptoms of imbalance.
It is for this reason that there are no contraindications, essentially rendering the technique useful for a wide range of conditions from acute pain to chronic conditions. |

Nutrition

The aim of Nutritional therapy is to encourage the body’s own healing system to work efficiently. The statement “You are what you eat” has been used a great deal and is quite true in many ways. A diet that is devoid of essential nutrients such as fast food high in carbohydrate and fats will eventually lead to health problems. To simply add vitamins to this diet would not solve the problem. Good organic food, fresh water, sunlight, fresh air and exercise are essentials to all living creatures, without the right balance of nutrients our bodies cannot overcome the stresses of modern living. There are many people whose body systems have the inability to absorb the nutrients from their food source, the correct balance of nutrients need to be included in their diet. It is only by consulting a Nutritional Therapist that this can be achieved. Diagnostic test and an in-depth consultation of diet lifestyle and medical history will be required. A program is then recommended focusing on foods that need eliminating from the diet to help detoxify the body’s systems, foods to increase to correct vitamin and mineral deficiencies. This will lead to a healthy digestion, which in turn will aid the body’s recovery.

Wake up to Water

| Water, water, every where but not a drop I drink is this “YOU”. Water it has been called “the most essential nutrient”. Drinking water is the most important part of keeping you in good health. In fact we can’t live without it. We can live for weeks without food as our body can live of its reserves, but we can only survive a few days without water.
Did you know that: “a reduction of 4.5% in body water will result in a decline of 20-30% in work performance” – New York Times guide to personal health.
Try to drink at least 2 litres of fresh water a day.
Drink little and often as your body will absorb and use this more efficiently.
Drinking a large glassful in one go will flush your system too quickly and ends up in your bladder fast with out having properly hydrated your body tissue
When you don’t drink enough water your body has to find fluid from somewhere to keep vital organs working so it calls on fluid reserves in the cartilage and discs and other areas. This can lead to stiff joints, back discomfort, sagging skin, aches in muscles, headache from dehydration to name but a few.
Would you like a clear head and feel fresh for your work, then drink more water.
Drinking alcohol, coffee and tea, soft drinks etc. leads to dehydration as the body has to process these through the system as a toxic substance and therefore has to use more of its already precious supply of water to do so. You can still enjoy you coffee, tea, soft drinks just do your body a favour and have a drink of water before or after your preferred drink.
Water helps detoxify the body of waste products. It helps to maintain proper muscle tone and nerve energy, helps to prevent early ageing of the skin due to dehydration.
If you are overweight you need to drink more water than a slim person. Larger people have larger metabolic loads. So need to drink more to help metabolise fat and clear it from the system. Water also helps prevent sagging of the skin after weight loss by plumping out the tissue.
Water is a one of the most important parts of a balanced approach to achieving and maintaining a well toned and healthy body.
Most food contains water so a little of your daily need is processed from food about 500 mls the body also generates water as a by product of its own metabolism about 100mls
The body looses about 500mls through respiration. Sweating looses about 500mls-1000mls. About 1500mls or more is used in the kidneys and intestines processes. So you can now see why you need to be drinking at least 2 litres of water per day just to keep going.
Do the pinch test.
Pinch the back of your hand hold the skin between the thumb and forefinger and hold for the count of 10 now release the skin and count how long it takes for your skin to return to normal. If it takes longer than 4 seconds to return, you need Water you are dehydrated.
Air conditioning, central heating, sports, stress, over indulging, too much salt, sugar, to name a few are some of the factors that may dehydrate your body. |

Posture

Next time you pass a full-length mirror, just take a few minutes to check your posture.
Does your stomach or bottom stick out? Do your shoulders look hunched? Do your feet tend to point inwards towards themselves or outwards? No doubt you'll be trying to straighten yourself up now to improve your posture! We all forget how to stand up tall. Unfortunately this transfers itself into our sitting positions as well. What you need to do is to find out how you hold yourself when you are not suddenly made aware of the problem.
Good posture is not being rigid like a rod. It’s a question of looking good standing tall and feeling confident with you. But most of all good posture is important for your physical and mental health. Few people are aware that your posture gives way clues of how you are feeling on a day-to-day basis. It also gives away clues of your personality. Your backbone forms a solid, but flexible structure which gives support to the rest of the body, but it remains flexible. Your back isn’t quite straight, it curves gently from the back of the neck to the chest and then in again at the waist area, and then forwards again to the hip region. Bad posture can strain this complicated arrangement. Exercises will help to ease tension and keep your back supple, changing your posture may help to over come many of the back and neck complaints that are common today.
If you spend a good part of the day sitting, and your posture is bad you can seriously compressing and compromise your body's internal organs.
The human body was not designed to sit or stand still for long hours, by doing regular exercise little and often throughout the day your body can clear its self of toxins and stress, keeping joints supple and healthy. |

Bowen Therapy

Bowen Therapy is a simple but effective body balancing system. Through gentle moves on soft tissue at a series of key points on the body, it stimulates energy flow that releases tension, strains and blockages, empowering the body's own resources to naturally re-balance and heal itself.

It can be performed through light clothing with each session lasting approximately 30-45 minutes.
